1938 D Walking Liberty Half Dollar
This is a gem of a coin that I purchased as part of a larger collection the other day. It is a very special Walking Liberty Half Dollar AKA “Walker”. The thing that makes this half dollar so special is that it is a 1938 Denver minted half. Almost every year that Walkers were minted there were millions and millions produced. In 1938, the Denver mint only produced 491,600 making this one of the toughest to find in the series. As we all know the value of coins goes up based on their rarity and condition. Heritage Auction House sold a 1938-D Walking Liberty Half Dollar for $32,900 in PCGS MS67 shape in 2014. The coin in the photo above is worth no where near that amount but it is still a great coin to me. If I had to make an estimate, in the condition that this coin is in, it is probably worth just north of $35.
